Course Description ... Learn Spanish while learning
about horses in the encouraging environment of Ironstone Farm. This course
utilizes the horse as the main tool to teach Spanish language skills.
Through the medium of the horse, the student will learn the language by
understanding the meaning from two perspectives and then performing functional
skills including grooming and hygiene, the comparative anatomy of horse
and human, nutrition, and descriptive physical exercise.
Instructor ... Jaime Velez, a native of Colombia,
is a licensed riding instructor with the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture.
Jaime has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Equine Studies from Mount Ida College
and has been a member of the Ironstone Farm staff since 2002.
Class Offerings ... Tuesdays or Thursdays - 5:00
to 6:30 PM
Eight weekly sessions from June 26th through August 16th.
Course Objectives ... To help students improve Spanish
language skills in a unique, encouraging and functional environment; To
improve general communication skills; To learn basic horsemanship.
Cost ... $300 per session. Sessions are 1.5 hours
once a week for 8 weeks
